ANONYMOUZ

Anonymouz aka Matthew Salapu is a versatile South Auckland music producer who has worked extensively within the NZ urban music scene.  He has scored for numerous commissioned film, television and radio projects as well as been Musical Director for many large-scale live events.  Earlier this year Anonymouz was commissioned to create a public permanent soundscapes for Te Oro a brand new arts centre in Glenn Innes.  Four continuous soundscapes can be heard on the outside four corners of Te Oro.

Anonymouz has taught in workshops all over New Zealan, Australia and Samoa, and is also the Music Director for APO REMIX the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra's award-winning Hip Hop and Classical Music programme.

 

Anonymouz will take his creation of soundscapes further into the Pacific when he travels as a member of the Aotearoa Delegation to the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts in Guam in 2016.

“...music production usually takes place within four walls, with a static microphone that can’t be moved.  With a more ‘soundscape’ approach, those four walls fall away, and the microphone can be anywhere you want to place it.” Anonymouz says this is one of the highlights of working in theatre. “There’s a natural crossover between sound, sound-effects, foley, music, composition… it's more free than doing traditional music.”
